Pastor's Corner


Orian A. Flournoy, Sr is the Pastor of True Spirit Baptist Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was ordained in March 1989 in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Omaha, Nebraska, where he began his ministry in 1986. He has served as Pastor, Associate Minister, Youth Director, Sunday School Teacher, Usher, and other areas in several churches while serving in the United States Air Force from 1975 t0 1996: Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Omaha, Nebraska; Hellenikon Air Base Gospel Service, Hellenikon Air Base, Greece; President of the Incirlik Air Force Base Ministerial Alliance and Gospel Service Representative, Incirlik Air Force Base, Turkey; Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Omaha, Nebraska; Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church, La Junta, CO; and True Spirit Baptist Church, Colorado Springs, CO. Rev Flournoy was called to the pastorate of True Spirit Baptist Church in May 2001.

Not only is Pastor Flournoy a preacher, he is also a teacher, administer, planner, educational minister, Bible scholar, and community leader. He has served in the following capacities; Spiritual leader of the Colorado Springs Chapter of “The Women of Purpose”, member of the La Junta Ministerial Association, President of the Junior Layman, and New Era  State Convention of Nebraska. He presently serves as The GMWA Colorado Springs Chapter Chaplain and is a member of the NAACP and serves as Military Affairs Committee Chairperson for the local branch chapter.  He provides leadership to other ministers and has a heart not only for meeting the needs of his parishioners but also that of the elderly and unchurched. He recently received The GMWA Colorado Springs Chapter “Spiritual Award” and the NAACP “Community and Religious Affairs Award.” His education includes two Associate Degrees, a B.S. in Computer Information System Management, and a Masters in Biblical Counseling. He served 21 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant. 

Rev. Orian Aaron Flournoy is a native of Micanopy, Florida and has been married to the former Mittie Mae Bob since April 20, 1974. They have three children (Luflossia, Orian Jr., and Elizabeth) and seven grandchildren.  His parents are Mrs. Luella Flournoy (Deceased) and Mr. Otis Flournoy (Deceased).  He is the sixth of eight children, four boys and four girls and they are very close and supportive of each other. Philippians 4:4-5, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.  Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.”
